Strategic marketing advice has helped charity raise profile with users and funders - The Foxton Centre
Preston ProHelp

The work of The Foxton Centre was not widely recognised until they had help reviewing their marketing and corporate identity.

Name of Organisation
The Foxton Centre

Sector
Community Support and Youth

Location
Avenham

Business Partner
StormHouse Ltd

Type of business support
The Foxton Centre is a youth and community project supporting vulnerable and socially excluded people, especially youth, in Avenham and central areas of Preston. Activities include: activities for children and young people including a youth club and parent and toddler group; working in partnership with Drugline and the Women's Centre they offer support to women involved with prostitution through the Streetlink project; a drop-in service offering advice and counselling for vulnerable and homeless young people; a healthy living project promoting exercise and healthy eating.

The Centre carries out an extensive programme of work with marginalised and vulnerable groups but were concerned that their work was not widely recognised and they lacked resources to market their work effectively. They approach ProHelp to find a professional firm to help them develop a marketing plan. Preston ProHelp put them in touch with full marketing agency StormHouse.

Costs and Resources involved
StormHouse worked closely alongside Foxton to understand the organisations aims and issues and explore ways of raising their profile whilst working within the constraints of limited resources. After producing a draft strategy, StormHouse then ran a workshop with staff and volunteers at the centre to gain their feedback and engage them in the process. By using this approach, StormHouse have helped to build marketing skills as well as commitment, within the organisation which will ensure the longer-term sustainability of the strategy.

StormHouse went beyond the initial brief, in reviewing the Foxton Centre’s publications they recognised a need for corporate identity to bring the centres varied and extensive projects under one banner.

Benefits of involvement
StormHouse produced a corporate logo for Foxton Centre and have re-vamped its publicity materials to give them a fresh new look and make them more accessible to the Centres target audience.

The new image will raise the profile of the Foxton Centre and help establish them as a key provider throughout the area and help service users and funders alike identify the projects in which the Centre is a major partner.

How was the link established?
